  • Electronic W-2 Form available to all employees for 2011 Tax reporting

Employees can receive their W-2 electronically. An electronic Form W-2 (E-W2) is available to employees within WISE, Banner’s self-service tool for employees. Employees have the choice to receive their Form W-2 electronically or via paper.

Any employee who chooses to receive their Form W-2 electronically is required to give their consent through WISE.  Below are the steps an employee must take to provide their consent:

  • Log into WISE.UNH.EDU
  • Accessing  the Employee tab, then select "Tax Forms" , followed by selecting "Electronic W-2 Consent"
  • Review the text and consent by selecting the check box
  • Select the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.
  • NOTE: there is no Banner confirmation when they take this action, and while we have recommended to SGHE that a confirmation be provided, it was not part of the release.

By taking these steps, the employee consents to access WISE to obtain their Form W-2.  E-W2 will remain in effect until the employee changes their consent choice or terminates employment.  E-W2 employees will not receive a printed paper Form W-2 mailed to their home address.

USNH is required to have W-2 information available to employees by January 31st.  The deadline is the same for both E-W2 and printed W-2 forms.  As in past years, we are hopeful to have the information available sooner and we’ll make announcements when the forms are ready.

Will the E-W2 be the same as the printed Form W-2?
Yes, W-2 form obtained electronically contains the same information and format as the employee would receive if they received a printed Form W-2.

Will the E-W2 be available by the same deadlines?
Yes, the same Banner processes are run which provide the E-W2 and the printed Form W-2s. Once the processes are complete, the information will be available in WISE.

What if an employee discovers that they need a printed paper Form W-2?
USNH will continue to retain an imaged copy of all Form W-2s (E-W2 or printed) which will be available to the Campus Payroll Office staff.  If an employee finds that they need a printed copy, they can access it via WISE or they can contact their Campus or USNH Payroll Office to request a printed copy.

We are excited to offer E-W2s to USNH employees! This new feature provides one more step towards the USNH and campus sustainability goals. Again this year, USNH Payroll will be communicating to employees through the Payroll check/direct deposit text box and an FYI through the HR web sites. You are encouraged to share this information with your employees so that they are aware of this ability to receive their forms electronically. This choice is beneficial to them as they will have access to the form via WISE as soon as the data is made available, it is safe, offers a "green" solution, and is economical for USNH budgets.

Feel free to contact us via email at Payroll@usnh.edu or by calling 862-1400 if you have questions or want more information.
